Shri Swaminarayan Mandir

June 30, 2019

Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is a beautiful Hindu temple that I only recently discovered while driving home from work. I've never been to any sort of temple before and had to double check the guidelines before visiting (i.e shoulders and knees have to be covered, shoes need to be removed, etc.). As ornate and elaborate as the architecture looked on the outside, it was the inside of the temple that really made me speechless. Photos weren't allowed, but in all of my travels I don't think I've ever stepped into such an awe-inspiring space (imagine all of the intricate carvings from the outside, but made out of white marble). It was gorgeous and definitely worth the visit!

Fresh Bread!

April 18, 2016

If you've ever visited 85°C Bakery Cafe before, then you know of the famous "fresh bread!" announcement that comes from the employees every time they bring out a new tray of baked goods. The display cases empty out pretty quickly on weekends, so I usually hear the "fresh bread!" yell every few minutes.

I actually didn't know about 85°Bakery Cafe (or any Asian bakery, for that matter) until a few years ago, when a friend took me to one for the first time. When you walk in, the first thing that you're expected to do is grab a tray and a pair of tongs. From there, you can walk around and pick out as many pastries as you'd like. I always, ALWAYS grab a few of their chocobuns (yum!). All of the pastries are placed into individual bags at the cash register and then you're good to go!

These are a few of my favorite items from 85°C Bakery Cafe:

Daiso

January 3, 2016
It's recently come to my attention that I know quite a few people who've never been to a Daiso store before. For those of you that don't know, Daiso is a Japanese convenience store where almost everything costs $1.50 (unless otherwise priced). Their items are SO CUTE! Plus they carry all sorts of products: stationary, makeup, snacks, household goods, etc. My basket is usually pretty full by the time I finish weaving in and out of all the aisles. But you can't really go wrong budget-wise when everything's $1.50!
PS Happy New Year!
