626 Night Market | August 2017

August 13, 2017
The very first time I went to the 626 Night Market was back in 2015. Even though I've only been going for a couple of years, it's become an event that I look forward to every summer, like a yearly tradition. I feel like the food vendors up their food game with even more innovative and unique dishes each year. At the same time, I'm still excited for the usual staples like bulgogi fries and taiyaki ice cream.

The 626 Night Market is still running tonight (Sunday 8/13) over at the Santa Anita racetrack. If you're interested in going and can't make it, there'll be one last night market next month during Labor Day weekend. I'll most likely be there as well haha.

Museum of Ice Cream

August 1, 2017

If you live in southern California, you've most likely come across photos of the Los Angeles edition of the Museum of Ice Cream within the past couple of months. Last Friday I finally got the scoop on this popular pop-up exhibit! {Get it? The scoop? I've been dying to make that joke for days!}

Let me start off by saying that the Museum of Ice Cream was definitely built with the Instagram audience in mind. The walls are covered in colorful wallpaper and dessert-themed decor. The artwork is a foodie's dream come true. And two words: sprinkle pool. Fun fact: the sprinkles are actually made out of plastic! Anyways, there's no way a person could walk through this place without busting out a phone or camera (photos are highly encouraged by the staff!).

When I arrived, I only had to wait a few minutes before our group was greeted by a guide who led us through the entrance. Once inside, you're allowed to stay in each room for as long as you like, with the exception of the sprinkle pool (which is timed so that everyone has a chance to go in). Some rooms come with the bonus of a yummy dessert, whether it be a piece of chocolate or an entire ice cream sandwich. Other rooms have some sort of fun interactive element, like swings or a claw machine.

I ended up staying for about an hour and thought it was such a fun and unique experience! It's also a good thing that I left room for dessert, because I was stuffed by the time I left! Tickets are all currently sold out, but I've seen the organizers extend the exhibit several times this summer, so sign up for their newsletters if you're interested in going!

PS Apparently, this Wednesday (8/2) is National Ice Cream Sandwich Day! Don't forget to celebrate!
