Niagara Falls by Boat

June 25, 2018
Niagara Falls is actually made up of three waterfalls along the international border between the United States and Canada: Bridal Veil Falls (on the U.S. side), the American Falls (also on the U.S. side), and Horseshoe Falls (on the Canadian side - this is the largest of the three and what most people think of when picturing Niagara Falls). On my second day in Canada, I jumped onto a boat to see all three of these waterfalls up close!

So confession time: I actually went on two boat tours in the same day. Let me tell you, for the best experience, go around dusk! The morning crowds on my initial ride made it difficult to take photos. Plus it was hard to enjoy the waterfalls while being surrounded by so many (loud) people. I took a second trip just before dusk and everything was so much better! There was actually room to roam around the boat and take in all of the different views without competing for space. And since I had more room, I had a much easier time shooting photos!

PS If you get on the boat thinking that you're not going to get wet, you're on the wrong ride haha. I don't have any super close-up waterfall pictures because once the boat enters the basin of Horseshoe Falls, you're hit with non-stop wind and spray for the duration of the time that you're in there. It's actually one of the coolest parts of the tour, in my opinion.

Note: I took the boat tour of Niagara Falls through Hornblower, which operates out of Ontario, Canada. Maid of the Mist is the company that runs the tours out of New York.

A Lavender Story

June 13, 2018
I've been to the Highland Springs Inn & Ranch before, but it was years ago for a lookbook shoot where our model had to run through lavender fields while wearing a bridal gown in 100-degree weather haha. I've always wanted to visit those lavender fields again, and I was so excited when news of a Lavender Festival popped up on my feed.

I ended up going last weekend and was so happy to be back! The fields aren't blooming as much as I thought they'd be, but they're still pretty to walk through and photograph (everyone was trying to get an epic Instagram photo haha). And in addition to the fields, there were workshops, live music, demonstrations, and even an organic marketplace set up throughout the property. If you go, definitely check out the food area. I saw a bunch of people walking around with lavender lemonade and all sorts of other lavender-flavored goodies!

The Toronto Islands

June 7, 2018
So on my first day in Toronto, I decided to hop on a ferry and venture over to the Toronto Islands. As soon as we docked, I made a beeline for the bike rental shop. I just love riding bicycles, especially when I'm visiting somewhere new. It was so much fun to pass through all of the different parks, beaches, boardwalks, and cute neighborhoods that make up the islands. Plus my little bike excursion was definitely a welcome break from the busyness of the city. I spent a good two hours exploring the 15 islands that make up the Toronto Islands (they're all connected by bridges and pathways) and it was honestly one of the highlights of my trip!
